Joe has more than 25 years of experience in medical business management, marketing and market development. Prior to co-founding Dymedex he developed the discipline of market development and institutionalized his methods and strategies across all business units and geographies at Medtronic, a global leader in medical technology. Joe pioneered and statistically validated the methods and tools that became integral to Medtronic’s strategic planning process. Prior to Medtronic, Joe’s experiences include global leadership roles in business management and marketing at 3M. Joe holds two patents and is the recipient of numerous marketing and market development awards. He holds a BS in Biomedical Engineering from Marquette University and an MBA from St. Thomas University.
Ross has over 20 years of experience building high technology companies spanning medical technology, management consulting, internet financial services, and the semiconductor industry. Prior to co-founding Dymedex, Ross built new market development capabilities for Medtronic’s Cardiac Rhythm Management business across the United States and international organizations to drive global revenue growth. He taught, implemented and led multiple geographic market assessments to identify and capture growth opportunities without adding resources. While in A.T. Kearney’s high-technology consulting practice, Ross led analyses of client acquisition, divestment and growth investment strategies. Ross also has helped establish and manage four start-ups and two international joint ventures, including iEscrow and Quester Technology. Ross holds a BS in Electrical Engineering, and received his MBA from the MIT Sloan School of Management.
Dean has over 20 years of experience developing and implementing strategies to drive growth, operational efficiency, and high performance. Prior to joining Dymedex, Dean led global business development for Boston Scientific’s Peripheral Vascular Division. He also held leadership roles in upstream marketing and managed a group that launched 10 products in 18 months. Dean spent more than a decade advising clients on mergers & acquisitions, product development, and new product launch at McKinsey & Company, where he became a leader within the medical device practice. He holds a Bachelor of Electrical Engineering degree cum laude from the University of Minnesota and earned an MBA from the Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth College where he was recognized as a Tuck Scholar.
James has more than a decade of life science experience, including technology creation, founding and building three investor-backed companies, and as a venture capitalist. Recently, James was a Senior Innovation Fellow at the Univ. of MN, where he created >40 medical technologies–one spun into a new company, with others commercially licensed. James has an MBA with honors from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business, an MS from UC Berkeley, a BS from the UMN, and an NSF Fellowship from Harvard University.
Michelle Davison Edwards
Michelle’s experience covers pharmaceutical, biotechnology and healthcare non-profit organizations, with roles in finance, market valuation, investor relations and business development. Michelle joined Dymedex from the American Society for Clinical Oncology, where she was a Sr. Development Officer, and was earlier at OXiGENE and Eli Lilly. Michelle is a US Army veteran and holds a BA from Johns Hopkins University and an MBA from the Fuqua School of Business at Duke University.
Mike has over 10 years of experience in sales and marketing strategy as an internal business partner at top retail, medical device, and pharmaceutical companies such as Boston Scientific, and as an external consultant at a top healthcare strategy consulting firm. He holds a BS in Math and Physics from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
Greg has several years of experience spanning across healthcare, biomedical research, and biotechnology. Prior to joining Dymedex, he worked at R&D Systems developing tools for life science research and previously in the Department of Surgery at the University of Wisconsin researching cellular and molecular treatment strategies for vascular diseases. Greg holds a BS in Biology from the University Wisconsin-Madison and completed two years of graduate coursework in the MD program at the University of Minnesota Medical School.
Tim has extensive experience in biomedical research, development, and commercialization and is an author of 10+ peer-reviewed scientific publications and patents in the fields of targeted drug delivery, tissue engineering and microfluidics. A fellowship in the Applied Business Training program at LifeScience Alley and previous roles at the technology commercialization offices of the University of Wisconsin and University of Minnesota have given Tim a broad foundation in technology and market assessment and business strategy. Tim holds a PhD in Biomedical Engineering from the University of Minnesota – Twin Cities and a BS in Biomedical Engineering from the University of Wisconsin – Madison.
Joe brings more than 10 years of experience in medical technology research and development and commercialization. Prior to Dymedex, he was at SurModics in roles ranging from early stage research to medical device product development and market opportunity assessment. His expertise includes molecular and cell biology, biomaterials, drug and nucleic acid delivery, regenerative medicine and analysis and communication of complex technical data. Joe has authored 7 peer-reviewed scientific publications and book chapters as well as 15 patents in the area of medical technology. Joe holds a PhD in Bioengineering from the University of Washington in Seattle and a BS in Chemical Engineering from Rice University in Houston.
Nick brings experience in engineering, business, sales and marketing to Dymedex, with recent positions at Medtronic and 3M. Nick enjoys applying his analytical and strategic skills to understand complex market dynamics. He holds a BS with honors in Mechanical Engineering and a BA with honors in Business Management from the University of St. Thomas.
Maria has several years of experience sizing and analyzing market opportunities for a myriad of medical devices, pre and post launch. She brings experience in predictive modeling and marketing analytics to the Dymedex team, as well as risk and competitive analysis. Prior to working at Dymedex, Maria was a dean’s list economics student at the University of Minnesota – Twin Cities. In addition to her work at Dymedex, Maria is currently pursuing an MBA from the Carlson School of Management, specializing in the medical industry.
Justin has more than 10 years of biomedical research experience elucidating disease mechanisms at the cellular and molecular level in the fields of vascular disease and multiple sclerosis. He is an author on 9 peer-reviewed publications and holds a PhD in Cellular Biology from the University of California-Irvine and a BS in Genetics from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
Chris is a recent graduate of the University of Chicago where he double majored in economics and mathematics. He brings experience in analyzing market information to the Dymedex team, as well as database and Excel expertise.
Alek is an accomplished and effective data architect/senior developer with over 20 years of industry experience. He is known for his skills in developing highly efficient, scalable software solutions fulfilling a wide variety of needs in myriad industries. Alek’s specialty is working with the Dymedex suite of proprietary tools. He holds a BS in Mechanical Engineering from Moscow State University of Civil Engineering in Russia.
Karen is an experienced business professional with over 25 years of experience in finance/accounting and all aspects of business administration. She has worked in many capacities for both large corporations and small businesses, as well as being a previous business owner/operator herself.
